As an Integration and Systems Engineer at H6.ai (by 9H), you will work closely with the Chief AI Officer / CTO, platform engineers, and client delivery teams to design, build, test, and operate the integration backbone of our AI platform. H6.ai delivers trusted, explainable AI systems for finance and operations teams. This role is critical in ensuring our AI agents integrate reliably into real-world enterprise environments such as ERPs, accounting systems, document flows, RPA-assisted processes, and internal data platforms.

You will own systems end-to-end. This includes integrations, data pipelines, APIs, quality controls, and production behavior. At H6, QA is engineered into the system. It is not delegated to a separate testing function.

This role sits at the intersection of enterprise integration, AI systems, and production-grade engineering.

Integration and Systems Engineering

• Design and implement robust integrations between H6.ai and external systems including ERPs, accounting platforms, document management systems, and internal client databases.
  
  
• Build and operate reliable data pipelines for batch and near-real-time processing.
  
  
• Normalize, validate, and structure structured and unstructured data for use by AI agents.
  
  
• Ensure deterministic behavior, data consistency, traceability, and auditability in production systems.
  
  
• Work closely with AI engineers to ensure integrations support explainable and trusted AI workflows.
  
  
• Contribute to reusable integration patterns, templates, and internal frameworks.
  
  

API, Gateway, and Platform Development

• Design, develop, and maintain internal and external APIs that power H6.ai integrations.
  
  
• Architect and implement microservices and gateway components for secure client connectivity, including on-premise and hybrid deployments.
  
  
• Implement webhooks, asynchronous workflows, retries, idempotency, and robust error handling.
  
  
• Maintain integration libraries, SDKs, and API documentation.
  
  
• Diagnose and resolve complex integration issues across diverse client environments.
  
  

Quality, Validation, and QA Engineering

• Treat quality and correctness as first-class engineering responsibilities.
  
  
• Design and implement automated tests for integrations, APIs, and data pipelines.
  
  
• Encode financial and data invariants as executable checks, such as totals reconciliation, tax consistency, currency handling, and deterministic outputs.
  
  
• Build and maintain golden datasets, synthetic test data, and replayable scenarios for regression testing.
  
  
• Validate AI-driven workflows for correctness, explainability, and safe user overrides.
  
  
• Prevent regressions by ensuring the same input always produces the same output across releases.
  
  

Platform and Delivery Support

• Support multiple client integrations in parallel while maintaining high engineering standards.
  
  
• Reduce onboarding risk and time-to-live through robust integration design.
  
  
• Manage bugs, enhancements, and technical debt related to integrations and system behavior.
  
  
• Collaborate with delivery and support teams to investigate and resolve production issues.
  
  
• Help define best practices for secure integration, data governance, monitoring, and operational excellence.
  
  

Qualifications and Skillset

Required

• Minimum 3 years experience in systems integration or backend engineering.
  
  
• Strong proficiency in Python.
  
  
• Solid experience designing and consuming REST APIs using JSON.
  
  
• Strong understanding of databases and SQL.
  
  
• Hands-on experience integrating with ERPs or accounting systems.
  
  
• Experience with asynchronous systems, webhooks, and event-driven architectures.
  
  
• Experience writing automated tests for backend systems or integrations.
  
  
• Comfort working with real-world, messy enterprise data.
  
  
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and parallel integrations.
  
  

Nice to Have

• Experience working with RPA platforms or automated business process workflows.
  
  
• Familiarity with data engineering tools such as Spark, Delta Lake, and MLflow.
  
  
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows for backend or integration-heavy systems.
  
  
• Experience building secure gateways, connectors, or middleware systems.
  
  
• Exposure to AI-powered systems, document processing, or automation platforms.
  
  
• Experience designing QA or validation frameworks for data-intensive or finance-critical systems.
  
  
• Experience working in finance, accounting, or compliance-sensitive environments.
