Job Summary

The Senior Backend Engineer will drive the modernization of a large-scale platform into a modular, high-performance architecture using Python/Django and AWS. Collaborating within a small, agile squad, this role focuses on backend design, API development, and scalability. The engineer will contribute to system decomposition, cloud optimization, and future product foundations—including a mobile app launch in 2026. Ideal candidates combine technical mastery, architectural awareness, and strong communication skills, ensuring efficient, reliable, and forward-thinking backend solutions that support long-term platform evolution.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python/Django to ensure scalability and performance.

• Lead architectural decisions to transition from a monolithic system to modular, cloud-native solutions.

• Integrate and optimize AWS services such as Lambda, RDS, and S3 to enhance reliability and efficiency.

• Collaborate closely with a cross-functional squad (product manager and engineers) to deliver impactful features.

• Contribute to decomposing the existing platform into microservices that support future products, including the 2026 mobile app.

• Identify technical improvements in architecture, code quality, and processes, proposing well-founded solutions.

• Promote open communication, shared ownership, and alignment across development cycles.

• Stay adaptable and curious, continuously learning as the platform and technology stack evolve.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Software Developer, with a proven track record building and maintaining production-grade applications.

• Hands-on experience working with microservices architectures, including designing, developing, and decomposing monolithic systems into modular, API-driven services.

• Proven experience as a hands-on Python/Django engineer with strong ownership and delivery focus.

• Deep understanding of backend systems design, scalability, and modular architectures.

• Solid experience integrating and optimizing AWS services (Lambda, RDS, S3) in development environments.

• Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Architectural awareness and ability to contribute to long-term platform strategy.
