About The Role
Avalere Health is seeking an Associate Principal to join our US Market Access & Commercialization Analytics team, bringing deep expertise in healthcare data analytics, US market access strategy, and the commercialization of life sciences products. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with Medicare and commercial claims data, including VRDC, as well as external real-world data sources. You should be skilled in designing and overseeing analytic plans, interpreting results in a strategic market access context, guiding analytical teams, supporting business development, and leading client-facing engagements. Candidates should also have familiarity with economic modeling approaches used to inform commercialization strategy, such as gross-to-net or ASP models, and experience mentoring staff to expand these capabilities.

You will lead engagements that shape market access and commercialization strategy, overseeing analytic execution and ensuring alignment with client objectives. Working collaboratively with cross-functional partners across market access, policy analytics, and evidence & strategy, you will guide the design and delivery of insights using claims and external data to answer complex access and reimbursement questions for life sciences clients.

The ideal candidate will bring deep subject matter expertise in claims datasets, strong command of analytic methods and programming languages (e.g., SQL, SAS, Python/R), and a sophisticated understanding of how market access, reimbursement, and policy dynamics influence commercialization. You should have a proven track record of delivering rigorous, compliant analyses; communicating insights to senior stakeholders; and driving new business through strategic leadership and client partnership.

What you'll do

    • Drive business development efforts, including proposal leadership, solution scoping, and identification of new market access analytics opportunities.
    • Serve as a senior client-facing leader who manages relationships, presents insights to executive stakeholders, and ensures deliverables directly address client needs.
    • Provide high-level oversight for analytic plan design, execution, and methodological rigor across data engagements.
    • Guide teams through complex data structures, analytic decision-making, and quality-control processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Mentor, coach, and develop junior staff in analytic methods, claims data expertise, and economic modeling capabilities.
    • Lead cross-functional collaboration with market access, policy analytics, and evidence & strategy teams to deliver integrated, strategic insights.
    • Provide subject matter expertise and strategic oversight for life-science economic models (e.g., gross-to-net, ASP), ensuring outputs are robust and actionable.
    • Support internal capability building by contributing thought leadership and enhancing analytic best practices across the organization.

About you

    • 8+ years of experience in healthcare data analytics with at least 3+ years focused on market access, commercialization analytics, or related consulting/life sciences roles.
    • Graduate degree in a health-related discipline or equivalent relevant work experience in healthcare analytics, market access, or a related field.
    • Deep expertise in healthcare data analytics, including Medicare claims, VRDC or other CMS data systems, commercial claims, and DUA compliance.
    • Familiarity with query or data management applications such as Databricks or Snowflake
    • Strong track record of leading client engagements and contributing to business development efforts.
    • Experience in economic modeling (e.g., GtN, ASP) in the life sciences and the ability to oversee and train others in these methodologies.
    • Expert-level programming experience in SQL, SAS, Python, or R, with the ability to guide teams and review code for accuracy.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively, with the ability to translate complex analytic findings into strategic insights.
    • Thrive in collaborative, highly communicative, cross-functional team environments.
$150,000 - $160,000 a year
We are committed to offering a competitive and fair salary that reflects your location, qualifications and the experience you will bring to our team. Salary ranges posted are DOE.
