Job Description

TrustedHousesitters is a fast growing, direct-to-consumer marketplace that is redefining pet care and travel.

Here at TrustedHousesitters, we’re on a mission to make travel work better for pets, for their people, and for the global community of animal lovers who look after them. We’ve got big plans on becoming the world’s most-loved travel solution for pet people. We’ve built something pretty special: a trusted place where pet owners and sitters connect to keep pets happy at home while their humans explore the world.

We’ve already grown into a global community with members in over 140 countries, a product people genuinely love, and a team of more than 100 brilliant humans powering it all.

But we’re only just getting started. Our goal? To grow to 1 million members and make TrustedHousesitters the world’s most-loved travel solution for pet people.

At the moment, a sit starts every two minutes somewhere on the planet. We want that to be every single minute and we know the only way we’ll get there is with the right people in the right roles.

The right people in the right roles will shape our future. So, here’s the big question: Could that be you?

We’re looking for an analytical Growth Strategist to help us scale our referral engine, joining a new squad who are focused on delivering product features and IRL magic that get our current members bringing more of their friends into our community.

You’ll operate as a ‘start-up in a scale-up’ – scrappy, experimental and fast. In collaboration with a Product Manager, Designer and Engineers, you’ll figure out how to grow our member base at an exponential rate through gamification and viral effects. You’ll use your analytics and consumer behaviour skills to ideate and test new mechanisms that encourage authentic word-of-mouth, both online and offline.

We have big growth goals. You’ll thrive in this role if you draw energy from challenge, regular change and an ambiguous, fast-paced environment. If you ever wanted to join an early-stage start-up or create your own business, this is a great place to get that kick, but with the support of scale-up resources behind you.

What you’ll do

Experimentation: Design and run experiments on and off the product: referral flows, shareables, waitlists, incentives, progress/status mechanics, community prompts. You’ll define hypotheses, measurement frameworks, monitor and analyse results, translating learnings into playbooks that help us grow faster.

Query & Analyse Data: You’ll do your own analytics to better understand user behaviour. You’ll define measurement approaches and build tracking & monitoring solutions to create visibility on your squad’s initiatives. You’ll use data exploration tools (Mode and Amplitude) and write your own SQL.

Marketing Amplification: Partner closely with Brand, Growth and Product Marketing to blend marketing activity into virality plays. This could involve local events, hyperlocal advertising or other marketing virality-type moments. You may attend IRL marketing events and speak directly to potential customers.

Do Things That Don’t Scale: You’ll need to think like a founder in this role. You’ll need to think creatively to find scrappy ways to test and validate virality ideas.

Empathise with Users: To engineer virality, you’ll need to deeply understand the real people behind the user counts and virality coefficients who use our product, tapping into motivations and triggers likely to prompt authentic word of mouth.

Wear Many Hats: You’ll partner closely with Product, Design and Engineering in your squad, speaking their languages and connecting the dots to help the squad move faster, co-developing virality playbooks we can scale globally.

Run Virality Initiatives: In close collaboration with Product, you’ll drive key virality initiatives forward, owning some of these yourself, such as Refer-a-Friend.

Who we're looking for:

    • Data Literate: You’ve ideally come from a maths/data background, but now you’ve transitioned (or want to transition) to the strategy/business side of things. You have a strong grasp of analytics and how we can (and can’t) measure user behaviour. You can write good SQL and only lean on the Data team for complex tasks. You’ve run experiments and used A/B testing tools before.

    • Gamification Exposure: You have experience/knowledge in typical gamification techniques that drive engagement. Ideally, you have a grounding in behavioural science and/or consumer psychology.

    • Marketing Context: You’ve had exposure to different marketing channels and understand the different roles they play in shaping a narrative. You can drive forward the marketing strategy and contribute to tactical decision-making.

    • Thrive in Ambiguity: You’re comfortable working in a high-growth, fast-moving environment that is constantly evolving.

    • Driven & Curious: You want to understand how and why things work (or why they don’t). You proactively seek out ways to improve performance, challenge assumptions and strive to take things to the next level.

    • Bias to Action and Impact: You value shipping fast over polishing endlessly - not because you cut corners, but because you optimise for learning and iteration.

    • Commercially Aware: You’re able to understand how a business makes money, and how you and other teams contribute to growing it.

    • Constantly Learning: You’re always seeking to develop your skillset, both within your role and in adjacent areas. You stay up-to-date with recent trends, seeking to operate at the forefront of your field consistently as it evolves.
