Job Summary: 

We’re excited to share this role on the Business Intelligence Team which is part of the larger Finance organization. Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the Vice President of Strategy & Analytics as part of the dynamic team that reports business results, informs strategic action, and implements special projects at a fast-pace growing mid-sized company. The scope of the Business Intelligence team includes: 

  • Reporting and Data Visualization. We design and architect the front-end for compelling, best-in-class data visualization solutions that support Client Service, Sales, Finance, Senior Leadership, and the Board. 

  • Strategic Analytics. We conduct detailed analysis to answer strategic business questions like understanding variations in Advisor productivity and Sales results, developing insights around client retention, measuring channel opportunity and supporting our Partner Development team as they evaluate prospective M&A opportunities. This person should demonstrate analytical skills when partnering with business owners by sharing recommendations and solutions. 

  • Data Integration. We combine data from a variety of sources and business areas; leveraging custom data pipelines (Python, SQL, etc.) to extract, transform, and load to our data warehouse. The BI team has a culture of collaborating to drive continuous reliability and automation enhancements in our reporting processes. Team members are “full-stack” BI developers by creating our own ETL jobs and loading tables in addition to creating reports and analyses. 

 

 

Essential Job Functions for this role include: 

The Senior Analyst, Management & Performance Analytics, will develop and oversee reports and tools that indicate performance of key elements of the Mercer business and identify levers for improvement. The portfolio of projects is anticipated to initially include: 

  • Wealth Advisor Performance – Provide an integrated suite of performance metrics and incentive compensation reporting to an Advisory organization of 350+ Wealth Advisors.  
    • Create a unified experience in Power BI for Advisors at varying levels of leadership to understand their individual and team results. Drive the creation of a consumer-friendly catalog of key reports, and definitions for the respective metrics they display.  
    • Integrate a set of driver metrics from varying sources that ultimately lead to improving revenue retention and growth in our client relationships. Own and enhance the presentation of these metrics to provide insight to leaders and individual advisors so we can improve net retention in a proactive manner. Create tools that support enhanced capture of Share of Wallet from our clients. 
    • Collaborate with executive leadership, including the SVP, Wealth Operations and Experience, Executive Managing Directors, and VP of Compensation as they analyze performance and create enhancements to metrics and incentive programs in the future. 
  • Client Service Operational Performance – Collaborate with Head of Client Service to deliver continuous productivity improvement and exceed client expectations. 
    • Develop data sources, metrics, and dashboards that enable client service to understand performance and ensure SLAs are met. 
    • Implement automation to identify potential delivery challenges, enabling proactive resolution to enhance client satisfaction. 
  • Power BI Enablement – Serve as expert resource for all things Power BI—guiding stakeholders, troubleshooting complex issues efficiently, and mentoring team members.  
    • Power BI rockstar who can deliver compelling reports and make it look easy, up-leveling our ability to deliver reporting to a broad range of audiences. 
    • Ensure our production reporting is a trusted resource for end users through standards, consistency, and performance optimization.  
    • Drive our Wealth Management Data & Reporting Advisory Board.  

 

Key technologies today are Orion, Salesforce, Power BI, Azure Synapse, Python, and Microsoft Office.   

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • 4 – 10 years of data analytics, statistics, and/or reporting experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree from a selective, accredited institution required (with preference to the fields of Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, or STEM disciplines) 
  • Successful completion of analytic coursework (e.g., economics, mathematics, physical sciences) 
  • Results-oriented with proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment 
  • Self-motivated and proactive with aptitude for critical thinking and problem solving 
  • Exceptional and persuasive communicator and facilitator with the ability to effectively interface with executive management 
  • Shows flexibility and adaptability in an environment with rapidly changing business and technology needs 
  • Curiosity to learn new skills and eagerness to form new relationships 
  • Expert level with Power BI. Proficiency with SQL, Python, Excel, PowerPoint. Salesforce experience preferred.
