Job Description

Vonage Communications APIs:

As an emerging leader in the $10B+ communications API market, we empower global brands to connect better with their customers, employees, and partners through transformative communications experiences. For example, Vonage API solutions empower organizations to build their custom omnichannel communications structure. This allows them to reach and engage customers on their preferred schedule and channel — including voice, video, and messaging. Think of a rideshare service instantly connecting with customers, hospital staff conducting remote monitoring, customers verifying their identity before completing a purchase, AI virtual agents servicing customers around the clock, and much more.

Why this role matters:

You’ll play a key role in building and scaling the core real-time communications platform that enables seamless voice and media experiences, directly impacting reliability, call quality, and security across globally distributed systems used in real-world, time-critical scenarios.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain voice backend services, customer facing frontend dashboards and Client SDKs

  • Develop and support WebRTC, media server, and observability components

  • Improve system security, authentication, and dependency health

  • Participate in on-call rotation, incident response, and production operations

  • Debug call quality and performance issues across the RTC stack

  • Collaborate with Voice, Video, Infra, Network, Product, and Support teams

  • Contribute to architecture design, documentation, and service ownership

What you'll bring

Required:

  • Experience with backend development (Node.js/TypeScript, Java or Go)

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and Rest APIs

  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines

  • Familiarity with Couchbase and Redis

  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis

  • Strong ownership mindset and cross-team communication skills

Experience we consider a plus:

  • Hands-on work with media servers (FreeSWITCH, Asterisk) or VoIP systems

  • Knowledge of WebRTC, SIP, or real-time media protocols

  • Experience with Terraform, and multi-region infrastructure deployments

  • Experience with voice/video quality metrics, ASR/TTS, or media processing

How you’ll benefit:

  • Medical Insurance

  • Glasses Reimbursement

  • Life Insurance – Allianz Family

  • Kafeteria – My Benefit

  • Ericsson Care Line

  • Discretionary Time Off (DTO)

  • Volunteer Time Off (VTO)
