What You’ll Do
Build backend services in TypeScript
Build TypeScript/React user interfaces for web and mobile
Deeply understand our product and users. Translate real-world operational challenges into intuitive, high-impact features.
Deploy AI technology at large mines
Work with our CEO, former CTO and cofounder of Blend Labs ($1B public company), learning to build a world-class engineering organization
As an engineer at an early-stage startup, your responsibilities will vary from week to week as priorities evolve. In general, your technical work will consist of:
Backend (TypeScript) - 40%
Web front-end (React) - 40%
Mobile front-end (React Native) - 10%
Infrastructure and tools (Kubernetes) - 10%
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Qualifications
4+ years of experience in a professional software engineering role
Strong coding skills, problem-solving ability, and grasp of computer science fundamentals
Entrepreneurial work ethic, drive for excellence, and belief in meritocracy, personal responsibility, and hard work
Experience and comfort working on a remote team
Rapid delivery of high-quality work
Enthusiasm for building at all levels of the stack, from low-level infrastructure details to high-level product work and wireframing
Great judgment and intuition about security, testing, code quality, and tech debt
Ability to design good generalizations while avoiding premature overengineering
Appreciation of functional programming, continuous delivery, clean code, and automated testing
Highly independent and able to come up to speed without heavy assistance
Flexible work hours (occasional nights and weekends) when necessary to sprint for urgent deliverables
Ability to handle multiple work streams and frequent context switching as priorities change
Humility to learn from others while also being able to advocate for and execute on improvements you believe in
Mastery of core development/infrastructure/DevOps tools (Git, Linux)
US citizen or permanent resident (and based in the US)
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Startup experience
Professional experience with our core development technologies (TypeScript, React, Postgres, Kubernetes)
Strong network of top-tier engineers
