Job Description
KUNGFU.AI is a management consulting and engineering firm focused exclusively on artificial intelligence. We empower CEOs and senior executives to leverage the full potential of AI so they remain competitive in a rapidly evolving world.
Our expert team delivers AI strategy and bespoke production-grade solutions that allow clients to rapidly realize value. We stand apart because we implement our AI strategies into production quickly, safely, and responsibly.
Outside of our virtual walls we are painters, foodies, cocktail connoisseurs, musicians, crossword-doers, athletes, dungeon masters, non-profit board members, and more. We’d welcome the opportunity to meet you.
This position sits at the cutting-edge of machine learning and software engineering. As an Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for designing and developing AI and machine learning applications for our growing client base. You should be familiar with some of the following concepts:
-Machine Learning
-Computer Vision
-Natural Language Processing
-Time-Series
-Classification
-Reinforcement Learning
Interns at KUNGFU.AI work on both internal and external projects. You will be paired with senior engineers and gain experience working on live client-facing projects. To be considered for our spring internship, you must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CST.
We are looking for candidates who are in their Senior year of college or Graduate students.
The application deadline for the Spring cohort is November 21, 2025. The Spring cohort will start in January and conclude in May. Candidates can be located anywhere in the US, but Austin is preferred, as our Engineering leadership is located there. Candidates must also be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Conducting diverse machine learning experiments in a collaborative environment that values knowledge sharing, inclusivity, and trust
- Partnering with engineers in a pair programming setting to translate theoretical models into robust, scalable solutions
- Engaging in client-facing activities, building lasting partnerships by effectively bridging cutting-edge technology with real-world business needs
- Collaborating with cross-functional project teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Staying at the forefront of machine learning advancements, ensuring our solutions are informed by the latest techniques and innovations.
What we'd like to see:
- You’ve worked on a few machine learning projects, whether from coursework or previous internships, and have familiarity with a range of model types and architectures
- Someone who is proficient and quite comfortable programming in Python, as that's mostly what we use here
- Experience with object-oriented programming, code hygiene, basic version control, etc. We work on PoCs and prototypes, but also deploy and productionalize a portion of our work, so some basic software engineering ability is a huge help
- Adaptability, plain and simple. Our engineers are constantly adapting to new and different technologies, industries, and environments due to the nature of consulting and the rapid pace of AI research
- Someone who's comfortable working with deadlines and is confident in their time management
- Someone who's a great communicator. You're comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences
- We're huge on continuous learning. We always look for individuals who have an almost insatiable thirst for knowledge and a deep love of problem-solving
