Job Description

Scopely is looking for a Senior ML Engineer to join our Monopoly Go! team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis, or in Spain on a remote basis.

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play, every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues, or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

Monopoly GO! is our new casual game and a key franchise that has just become one of Scopely’s largest games enjoyed by millions of players. The team is based in Europe and the US, and works every day to create captivating new experiences for our players.

What You Will Do

You’ll be a senior voice in a cross-functional group, responsible not just for building but also for guiding how we approach data and ML challenges. You’ll partner closely with data scientists, engineers, and product leaders to evaluate ideas, choose the right technical approaches, and deliver production-ready systems that scale. This is a hands-on role with real ownership: you’ll both design and implement solutions, while mentoring others and raising the technical bar across the team.

  • Act as the bridge between data science and engineering: guide data scientists on how best to deliver their ideas to the business, ensuring prototypes become scalable, reproducible, and well-documented products

  • Collaborate with product and analytics leaders to frame business problems and turn them into actionable, data-driven solutions

  • Shape our ML/analytics infrastructure and tooling, enabling effective experimentation and long-term scalability

  • Make strategic technical choices on how to tackle new opportunities, whether through graph/network analysis, APIs for real-time predictions, or batch workflows

  • Own deployment workflows for ML models: training, validation, testing, monitoring, and iteration

  • Lead the design and development of reliable data pipelines that transform raw data into clean, analysis-ready form

  • Define and maintain schemas and transformations in our data warehouse (BigQuery, dbt)

  • Champion engineering best practices (modular code, testing, CI/CD, version control) and ensure they are embedded in team workflows

  • Mentor junior, mid-level team members and data scientists, fostering growth and technical excellence

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant experience leading the development of data pipelines and deploying ML/analytics systems in production

  • Strong Python and SQL skills; you write clean, maintainable, production-quality code

  • Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks

  • Familiarity with ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch) and the ability to evaluate models’ fitness for purpose

  • Deep understanding of the ML lifecycle: from experimentation to deployment, monitoring, and iteration

  • Proven experience with MLOps practices and tools (e.g., experiment tracking, reproducibility, CI/CD for ML)

  • Comfort with workflow orchestration (Airflow/Cloud Composer)

  • Experience working in cloud environments (GCP is a plus, but AWS/Azure backgrounds are welcome)

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and explain complex technical concepts clearly

  • A leadership mindset: able to mentor, guide technical decision-making, and set direction for the team

Bonus Points

  • Prior exposure to gaming, personalization, or recommendation systems

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)

  • Contributions to shared data/ML tooling and frameworks

  • Passion for building systems that unlock new ideas and empower data scientists to move faster

At Scopely, we create games for everyone - and want to ensure that the people behind our games reflect that! We are committed to creating a diverse, supportive work environment where everyone is treated with respect. We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities and welcome individuals from all backgrounds to join us & embrace the adventure!
