At VRAI, the Jewelry Designer is responsible for exception execution and presentation of design concepts. This role requires deep expertise in diamond jewelry, a refined design sensibility and the ability to translate creative vision into refined product that aligns with brand identity, design integrity and price point.
This role is highly creative, detail-oriented, and experienced in both the technical and artistic aspects of bridal, fine, and high jewelry design. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, is project management-focused with dedication to meeting deadlines, while actively collaborating with Product Development, Merchandising, and Marketing teams to bring diamond-focused designs to life.
Responsibilities
- Lead intensive concepting periods to research and document inspiration supporting intentional product assortment development; create highly detailed sketches, stone layouts, CADs, specs/technical drawings, and gouache to translate jewelry concepts into designs reflecting the brand image that are marketable, sellable and meet company objectives Conduct competitor’s analysis, market research and collect customer/retail feedback to support new fine jewelry product concepts.
- Manage vendor CAD work for technical viability and provide concise technical feedback.
- Participate in weekly product development meetings, preparing status updates on designs, CADs, etc, for review and approval.
- Support Custom order CAD creations for orders from time to time during high-volume periods and analyze custom order projects that could be integrated into the fine jewelry collection.
- Maintain the 3D file library; manage file sharing with internal partners and manufacturers.
Requirements
- Graduated from a top Jewelry Design School, with an emphasis in 3-D Jewelry Design preferred or has a minimum of 5 years in jewelry industry CAD work experience.
- Extraordinary mastery of hand sketching and gouache techniques; proven ability in Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD, Matrix gold software.
- Extensive knowledge of the fine jewelry industry and competitive landscape, gemology, precious metals, materials, engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Must have excellent communication skills, be able to effectively work in a team environment, have impeccable attention to detail, be highly organized with the ability to manage several development projects at one time, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Experience creating custom designs is a plus.
$90,000 - $110,000 a year
