Job Description

About Pair Team

Pair Team is building a new kind of healthcare system across Medicaid, Medicare, and public assistance programs: one that recognizes that access to housing, nutritious food, and reliable transportation are just as critical to health as having the right medications or seeing a doctor.

As a public benefit corporation and AI-enabled medical group, we partner with shelters, food pantries, and community organizations to deliver “whole-person” care to the 115 million Americans who rely on the safety net. We are currently the largest complex care provider in California with over 500 employees and are expanding nationally. Our model replaces fragmented healthcare and social services systems with one trusted relationship for all medical, behavioral, and social needs.  We improve access, build trust, and dramatically lower costs (52% fewer ER visits, 26% fewer hospitalizations). Our model is a rare combination of saving tax payer dollars ($150B annually at scale) while putting people on an upward life trajectory. At national scale, this approach would save taxpayers.

These outcomes are driven by the AI-first, whole-person infrastructure we are building — a platform that connects healthcare and social-service organizations into a unified network. Leveraging our vast data and years of operational experience, we are building the agentic infrastructure for the safety net to coordinate care, automate operations, and learn from every patient interaction to continuously improve outcomes.

Our Values

  • Trust: We consistently strive to earn the trust of our patients and their families, our clinic partners, and our teammates.
  • Growth: We grow together – as a company and as individuals.
  • Accountability: We act like owners and take pride in our work.
  • Act beyond yourself: Our vision and impact goes beyond ourselves and so must our actions.

In this role, you will:

  • Own IT End-to-End: From vendor management to onboarding to security — you’ll be the point person.
  • Stand Up Core Systems: Refactor and optimize Rippling/HRIS and make sure our SaaS stack is clean, secure, and efficient.
  • Build IT Basics That Scale: Zero-to-one onboarding/offboarding, device management, policies, and workflows.
  • Drive Vendor Management: Select, negotiate, and manage IT/MSP partners and SaaS vendors.
  • Security & Compliance: Put lightweight but effective guardrails in place (SPCC guidance, compliance readiness, secure defaults).
  • Incident Response & Ops: Be the person who runs point when something breaks, and set up simple systems to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
  • Operational Excellence: Bring order to startup chaos — blending data, judgment, and hands-on problem solving to keep things moving fast and secure.

Who You Are

  • Strong Executor: You get stuff done. You don’t wait for a team to be hired or others to unblock projects — you roll up your sleeves.
  • Builder Mentality: Comfortable owning zero-to-one, setting up systems from scratch, and iterating as we grow.
  • Pragmatic Strategist: You see the north star, and you can build an incremental / low lift path to get there, but you know when “good enough for now” is the right move.
  • Systems Thinker: Able to design IT and security in a way that actually works for people and scales with the business.
  • Technical Partner: You work hand-in-hand with engineering and speak their language — not just a translator, but a true collaborator. Your past technical experience gives you the context to engage deeply on systems, architecture, and security.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Experienced running incident response and keeping people aligned when things go sideways.
  • Vendor Whisperer: Skilled at picking, managing, and negotiating with vendors.
  • Great Communicator: Can explain the “why” behind IT decisions in plain English and support non-technical users with empathy.
  • Scrappy and Flexible: You’re as comfortable wiring up an MDM as you are briefing execs on IT security.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years in IT roles, with at least 2–3 in a lead or architect-level capacity (startup or high-growth experience required).
  • Hands-on IT systems setup: onboarding/offboarding, device management (MDM), SaaS administration, SSO/IDP (Okta, Google Workspace, etc.), HRIS (Rippling preferred).
  • Vendor management: selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing relationship management across SaaS and MSP/MSO partners.
  • Security & compliance exposure: experience implementing practical security controls, guiding compliance readiness (SOC 2, HIPAA, etc.), and embedding security into IT processes.
  • Incident response leadership: experience running and coordinating incident response, including root cause analysis and prevention.
  • Technical foundation: past roles in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or security operations — enough to “speak engineering’s language” and collaborate on architecture.
  • Cross-functional partnership: proven track record of working effectively with People Ops, Finance, Legal, and Engineering to align IT with business needs.
  • Startup builder mindset: experience as the first or early IT hire, or in roles where you had to stand up IT systems and processes from scratch.
  • Operational excellence: demonstrated ability to create order in fast-moving, ambiguous environments by blending data-driven decision-making with scrappy execution.

What Success Looks Like

  • Every new hire says “onboarding was seamless.”
  • IT systems feel invisible: reliable, secure, and easy to use.
  • People Ops, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and Care teams all trust and rely on you as their partner.
  • We’re confident in our security posture and compliance prep without slowing the business down.
  • Incidents get resolved quickly, and future ones are less painful.

Because We Value You

  • Competitive salary: $165,000-$205,000
  • Equity compensation package
  • Flexible vacation policy – take the time you need to recharge
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) through Guideline
  • 100% company-sponsored short and long-term disability and life insurance
  • Subsidized backup childcare and caregiver supports through Wellthy
  • Work entirely from the comfort of your own home
  • Monthly $100 work from home expense stipend
  • We provide the equipment needed for the role
  • Opportunity for rapid career progression with plenty of room for personal growth!
