We are looking for a Principal Backup & Recovery Architect/Lead strategic thinker and technical authority responsible for guiding service architecture, managing key vendor relationships, and driving organizational governance
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and technical contribution to the backup and recovery service roadmaps and architecture planning, integrating emerging technologies like Public Cloud (IaaS, PaaS) and Infrastructure as Code.
- Own the compliance and risk identification process for the service. You will define technical standards, perform peer review of all major changes, and ensure reporting meets executive standards.
- Manage and nurture strategic relationships with key backup and hardware vendors, coordinating technical roadmaps and managing procurement/quoting processes for major infrastructure upgrades.
- Provide senior-level subject matter expertise and leadership, mentoring Band 1 and 2 specialists, and driving high-level knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Act as the highest escalation point, leading post-incident reviews and driving high-impact improvements based on lessons learned.
Requirements
- 6+ years of deep, enterprise-level experience in backup, recovery, and continuity planning, ideally with exposure to multiple major vendor platforms.
- Proven experience contributing to or designing complex, highly available DR/B&R architectures.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage expectations and influence decision-making among senior business leaders and technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one Public Cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and exposure to automation tools (e.g., scripting, configuration management).
