Position: SAP ABAP Developer – ERP Modernization & S/4HANA Migration – Levels II, III & Sr.
Location: Arlington, VA - Hybrid / Onsite
Security Clearance: DoD Security Clearance Eligibility Required
Program: SAP ABAP Developer – ERP Modernization & S/4HANA Migration – Levels II, III & Sr.

Navaide is seeking experienced SAP ABAP Developers to support the U.S. Navy's strategic transformation program, modernizing its enterprise resource planning environment from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA. This is a transformation initiative, not a sustainment role. You will be at the forefront of designing and building modern ABAP solutions in an S/4HANA landscape—leveraging CDS Views, OData services, the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), and SAP Fiori to replace legacy ECC customizations with clean, upgrade-ready code. You will work closely with functional architects, integration leads, and government stakeholders to ensure that Navy financial and supply chain processes are accurately re-engineered and successfully migrated to the new platform.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
• Design and develop new ABAP solutions using modern S/4HANA development patterns—CDS Views, OData V2/V4, RAP, and AMDP—adhering to SAP Clean Core principles to ensure long-term upgrade readiness.
• Lead or contribute to the assessment and remediation of legacy ECC ABAP custom code (SPDD/SPAU), identifying opportunities to replace classical enhancements with S/4HANA-compatible equivalents.
• Develop and maintain OData services to support SAP Fiori and UI5 applications, collaborating with UX/functional teams to deliver intuitive user interfaces for Navy end users.
• Support system integrations using SAP Integration Suite (BTP/CPI) or PI/PO for interfaces connecting S/4HANA to external Navy and DoD systems.
• Partner with functional consultants and architects to translate complex business requirements—across MM, FM, FI, CO, SCM, PS, and SD—into technically sound S/4HANA solutions.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle: requirements analysis, technical specification, development, unit testing, integration testing, and deployment support.
• Conduct and participate in code reviews, enforcing S/4HANA best practices and Clean Core standards across the development team.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation including design documents, code specifications, migration runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials.

Required Qualifications
• 4- 8+ years of experience with hands-on SAP S/4HANA ABAP development experience, including CDS Views, OData V2/V4, and OO-ABAP (ABAP 7.5+)
• Experience with the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP) for transactional and analytical applications
• Proficiency with Eclipse / ABAP Development Tools (ADT)
• Working knowledge of SAP Fiori/UI5 and development or troubleshooting of OData-backed applications
• Experience supporting or executing ECC-to-S/4HANA migrations, including custom code remediation (SPDD/SPAU) and upgrade activities
• Functional knowledge in two or more SAP modules (MM, FM, FI, CO, SCM, PS, SD) with ability to translate business requirements into technical designs
• Familiarity with SAP Clean Core principles and extension strategies (e.g., BAdIs, ABAP in the Cloud)
• Strong communication skills with ability to produce technical documentation and collaborate across teams

Preferred Qualifications
• DoD or U.S. Navy experience, including familiarity with Navy ERP, financial processes, or acquisition and supply chain systems
• Experience with SAP BTP services (Integration Suite/CPI, API Management, SAP Build)
• ABAP Managed Database Procedures (AMDP) and SQLScript experience for HANA-native performance optimization
• Experience with Git-based transport management and DevOps practices in SAP environments
• Active DoD security clearance (Secret or above)
• SAP certification in ABAP, S/4HANA development, or related technology
• Experience with Agile or SAFe delivery methodologies on large federal transformation programs

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
