We’re on the hunt for a Senior Backend Developer to join the Outplayed team at Overwolf and help build the systems behind millions of gaming moments.Outplayed is one of the leading gameplay capture platforms for gamers, built on top of the Overwolf ecosystem. As we expand, we’re building scalable backend systems for media management, social features, cloud services, and large-scale data processing for millions of players worldwide.This is a hands-on role for engineers who like owning meaningful parts of a system while staying flexible across domains. One day, you might work on APIs and social graph features. Responsibilities In this role, you will:Design and build backend services and REST APIs for large-scale gamer-facing productsDevelop systems for media management, social features, and core product capabilitiesBuild backend services with TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, Prisma, PostgreSQL, Redis, and GoDevelop and maintain event-driven pipelines using Go and KafkaBuild and improve cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform and TerragruntWork with production systems running on ECS, ECR, RDS, and related AWS servicesImplement scalable authentication and OAuth flowsImprove scalability, reliability, observability, and developer workflows across the platformParticipate in architectural discussions, code reviews, technical planning, and production ownershipCollaborate closely with engineers, product managers, analysts, and designers to deliver high-impact featuresBefriend the beings of the enchanted forest and become their guardian Requirements 6+ years of backend software development experienceStrong proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, including production NestJS experienceSolid experience with SQL and RedisExperience designing and operating distributed, event-driven systems and REST APIs at scaleExperience with AWS/GCP, Infrastructure as Code, and Docker-based production environmentsStrong debugging, performance, and problem-solving skillsStrong communicator who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environmentsBonus pointsHands-on experience with GoExperience building social platforms, feeds, recommendation systems, or social graphsExperience with Kafka, Kinesis, Snowflake, or large-scale data platformsFamiliarity with observability and monitoring toolsPassion for gaming
