What We Need
2K is looking for a Junior Copywriter to assist with our sports portfolio and develop content that will educate, excite, and engage the players of our sports games portfolio at 2K. In this position, you’ll contribute to the public-facing brand narrative that serves our community across multiple platforms, working closely with the NBA 2K Marketing team to generate quick-hit style posts, long-form articles, Game Guide content, CRM copy, and more.
Reporting to the Manager, Brand Content - NBA 2K, the ideal candidate will be an avid sports fan and gaming enthusiast with an experienced writing background. It is expected that this individual will have a keen eye for detail, an adaptable style that can fit a diverse range of tones, and a collaborative attitude that’s able to work cross functionally with multiple stakeholders and meet tight deadlines.
What You Will Do
Copywriting & Editing:
- Write clean, direct educational content that will inform our players about NBA 2K gameplay and its various modes across a wide range of content formats. This includes game guide entries, CRM copy, First Party blogs, and more.
- Submit your work through a multi-step approval process and adeptly field any incoming edits, incorporating feedback from marketing stakeholders, external developers, and internal legal counsel to ensure that any public-facing messaging has been fully vetted.
- Manage multiple projects at once and juggle numerous deadlines in tandem, prioritizing requests as they come in with the ability to pivot if plans suddenly change.
- Peer-edit other articles to ensure that we maintain a consistent brand voice and weed out any potential errors.
Content Strategy:
- Work with the Manager, Brand Content - NBA 2K to conceptualize educational content that will meet community needs and introduce entry-level players to more advanced concepts.
- Stay in contact with the Web Strategy, CRM, and Lifecycle Marketing teams to update triggered journeys tailored for different audiences.
- Support Brand Strategy initiatives by working with the Manager, Brand Content - NBA 2K to evolve public-facing messaging and bring it to life throughout a title’s lifecycle.
What Will Make Your A Great Fit
- 2+ years of professional copywriting experience within the gaming, media, or entertainment industries
- Deep knowledge and passion for sports, with an ability to identify what content resonates with players.
- An open-minded and can-do attitude that works well with others, takes feedback graciously, and applies learnings to the finished product.
- You are highly organized, timely, communicative, and aren’t afraid to ask for help when needed.
- Taking pride in your work and committing to writing everything yourself; AI writing assistants can never be used as they could scrape private or embargoed information.
- In touch with ongoing trends with gaming and sports, with the recognition of topics and common pitfalls we should avoid.
The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $78,900 and $116,760 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for employees in regular roles may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, provided that temporary or intern roles will not be eligible for many of these payments or benefits. Details of participation in compensation and benefit plans (if applicable) will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.If hired, employee will be in an ~at-will position~ and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
