⭐️ About the role
We are looking for a Finance Analyst  to join our Cost team, working across Cost and Finance Data to own and enhance our operating expense reporting and analytics capabilities. You will be accountable for delivering scalable, reliable and increasingly automated operating expenses reporting that supports month-end close, Collective reporting, and strategic decision-making for Finance Business Partners.

You will move beyond producing reports to productising them; improving data pipelines, strengthening controls, and designing self-serve reporting solutions that reduce manual intervention and increase insight quality. This role requires strong financial acumen, solid data skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders through clear analysis and storytelling.

🔑 You’ll play a key role by...

  • Owning the delivery of accurate, timely and well-controlled month-end operating expense reporting
  • Designing and maintaining scalable Opex dashboards and reporting models used by Collectives
  • Delivering high-quality monthly spend reporting, including variance analysis vs planned spend
  • Productising recurring reporting processes;  identifying manual pain points and implementing automated, sustainable solutions
  • Partnering closely with FBPs to translate cost drivers into clear insights and structured commentary
  • Building and maintaining robust data models that reconcile finance systems with reporting outputs
  • Strengthening reporting controls through reconciliations, validation checks and documented logic
  • Leading ad hoc financial deep-dives to support cost efficiency, investment and performance
  • Supporting budgeting cycles through improved data flows, tooling and analytical outputs
  • Collaborating with Data and Systems teams to improve source data quality and reporting architecture
  • Continuously identifying opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, speed and scalability
  • Upholding the behaviours and conduct that contribute to Monzo values and culture

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if you have...

  • Demonstrable experience in finance analytics, FP&A, or a similar analytical finance role
  • Strong understanding of operating expense reporting, variance analysis and financial controls
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills (complex modelling, structured outputs, scalable design)
  • Strong SQL capability and experience working with large datasets (e.g. BigQuery or similar)
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards in BI tools (e.g. Looker, Power BI or equivalent)
  • Experience automating recurring finance reporting and improving reporting workflows
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively
  • Experience working with finance systems (e.g. SAP, Anaplan or similar) desirable
  • Structured, control-minded approach with strong attention to detail
