Design the future of virtual economies in VRChat. We’re building the future of immersive, user-generated worlds, where anyone, anywhere, can connect, play, explore, and express themselves.

We’re looking for a product designer to join our growing Economy team. You’ll work alongside a design lead to shape the tools, systems, and flows that power VRChat’s creator-driven economy, helping users buy, sell, gift, and earn in social and meaningful ways.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a systems-aware product designer who loves crafting intuitive UX for complex ecosystems. If you have experience designing marketplaces, digital currencies, or creator tools, and want to help define how value is exchanged in one of the largest virtual social platforms in the world, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities
  • Pair & collaborate with your Economy design lead, product managers, and engineers to shape intuitive, delightful UX across our economy platform, focused on monetization features.
  • Design flows, interactions, and screens that support user and creator needs while scaling across desktop, VR, web, and mobile. Our team uses Figma & Miro.
  • Balance structure with flexibility: contribute to pattern design, but stay agile when product constraints or community needs require creative solutions.
  • Turn fuzzy problem spaces into tangible product design and validate your work with team feedback, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
  • Pair with our Design Systems lead to contribute cohesive, reusable design patterns to our component libraries.
  • Stay close to user needs & behaviors, product needs, and social dynamics, especially as we scale monetization opportunities in VRChat.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
  • You have 2+ years of product design experience and have shipped real products that balance user needs with business goals.
  • You’re curious about virtual economies and excited by the challenge of designing systems that involve trade, value exchange, and community participation.
  • You design with structure and clarity. You know when to introduce consistency, when to diverge, and how to communicate your rationale.
  • You’re comfortable working in Figma and collaborating closely with cross-functional partners throughout the product lifecycle.
  • You enjoy navigating ambiguity and take ownership of your work from initial concept to polish and production.
  • You’re collaborative by nature. You ask questions, seek feedback early, and enjoy pairing with other design partners who can guide your work.
  • You value impact over ego, and you're someone teammates genuinely enjoy working with.
Bonus Points
  • Experience with marketplaces, virtual goods, in-app purchasing, or digital currencies.
  • Familiarity with avatar platforms, 3D content, or virtual reality.
  • Comfort designing across multiple input modes (mouse, touch, VR controllers).
  • Experience working on or adjacent to live-service games, social platforms, or user-generated content tools.

    This is a remote-first role. We’re a fully distributed company with team members across the globe. While we work asynchronously, overlap with U.S. time zones is needed for team collaboration.
