Job overview

The Co-Chief Talent Officer at WeVote focuses on the full employee lifecycle, which includes sourcing, recruitment, onboarding, professional development, engagement, and retention. 

The Co-Chief Talent Officer works closely with the company’s executive director and other leadership.  They contribute to policy changes to ensure talent development initiatives stay aligned with business goals. They also offer strategic advice that considers other important factors like open roles, skills gaps, employee engagement, and the company’s current stage of development. 

Role and responsibilities 

Volunteer Team Management:

  • Hire/manage/encourage team of early career stage recruiters 
  • Coach current team of 7 recruiters in talent acquisition best practices
  • Workforce planning with other team leads and hiring managers (engineering, analytics, business development, marketing, etc.)

Strategic/Leadership:

  • Create recruitment strategies and processes to support the organization 
  • Write and execute HR policies that affect employee life cycle: recruitment, training, and career development
  • Develop executive talent management and retention strategies
  • Provide best practices to improve the whole talent acquisition cycle
  • Assess leadership gaps across the organization and use different approaches to promote diversity in senior teams
  • Develop and execute multi-year talent strategy aligned with organizational growth goals, including workforce planning and competitive intelligence
  • Define talent acquisition roadmap for scaling from current 200+ contributors 

Partnerships and External Relations:

  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with universities, coding bootcamps, civic tech organizations, and diversity-focused recruiting networks
  • Manage vendor relationships (ATS, recruiting tools, background checks) and represent WeVote at industry events and career fairs
  • Expand university partnerships - especially for internships 

Recruitment:

  • Evaluate company’s hiring needs to build long-term recruitment plans 
  • Supervise the creation, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of the different facets of recruitment and talent acquisition for top/high-potential talent for the company’s key roles 
  • Recruitment marketing 
  • Optimize current JazzHR implementation and build scalable talent acquisition stack to support 2-3x growth
  • Develop metrics dashboard to track recruitment deliverables
  • Standardize processes for team efficiency  
  • Co-Chief Talent Officer working with other senior leader(s) 
  • Lead talent acquisition for an organization of 200+ contributors 
  • Manage 7+ person recruiting team (remote, US based)
  • Reports to Executive Director
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing (employer brand), Finance (compensation), IT (systems), and department heads (organizational design)

Required knowledge and skills:

  • 5-7 years of talent acquisition experience with 3+ years of managing a TA team; proven track record of building/scaling TA teams
  • Experience with distributed/remote teams; high growth environments and non-profit/mission driven organizations strongly preferred 
  • Full cycle recruitment processes – sourcing, screening, selecting, hiring, onboarding
  • ATS (Applicant Tracking System) experience
