Shippo connects merchants to the world’s carriers through a simple, intuitive API. To fulfill this promise, we need scalable, consistent, high-quality carrier integrations. Our Carrier Capabilities team maintains, improves, and expands our carrier network, allowing our company to grow. 

As a member of the R&D team, reporting to the Director of Product Management for our API business unit, the Technical Program Manager, Carrier Integrations is critical in driving the success of these efforts. The ideal candidate will lead cross-functional projects that ensure the timely delivery of high-quality integrations and will be instrumental in helping Shippo streamline its process for onboarding and upgrading our carrier integrations.
This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of product management, engineering, business operations, and carriers.

Shipping & handling responsibilities:

    • Program Leadership and Delivery
    • Own end-to-end program strategy for Shippo’s carrier integration portfolio, across new integrations, API upgrades, and new capability rollouts.Drive execution of complex, multi-team initiatives that require alignment between R&D, carrier partnerships, GTM, finance, and operations.Anticipate and articulate risks, and plan mitigations that ensure high quality delivery.Represent Shippo at a senior level with external carrier technical and operational stakeholders.
    • Define and track KPIs for integration quality, delivery predictability, and customer satisfaction.
    • Technical Influence
    • Partner with Engineering Managers and tech leads to ensure architectural decisions align with program goals, including scalability, reusability, and long-term maintainability.Challenge assumptions and surface trade-off risks where needed, ensuring short-term design choices don’t undermine long-term integration health.
    • Standards and Frameworks
    • Establish best practices for building and upgrading carrier integrations (e.g., API patterns, reliability standards, onboarding playbooks).Drive adoption of reusable frameworks and integration toolkits across engineering teams to improve consistency and speed.Own execution metrics for integration health and delivery (e.g., upgrade cycle adherence, incident reduction, SLA compliance).Develop governance models and reporting structures that give leadership visibility into integration health, performance, and risks

Do you tick the boxes?

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
    • 8 to 10 years total experience, including 5+ years in technical program management with a strong focus on API/platform integrations
    • Proven ability to manage complex technical projects from concept to delivery, including coordinating across teams and managing dependencies
    • Strong understanding of API integrations and their impact on end-user experiences, including core technical concepts such as OAuth, webhooks, and related standards.
    • Demonstrated experience with data analysis to drive prioritization and scoping decisions.
    • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to tailor messages to technical and non-technical audiences
    • Demonstrated experience with agile methodologies and program management tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence)
    • Bonus 
    • Experience with parcel carrier integrations a strong plus.
    • Background in software engineering is a strong plus
    • Experience with eCommerce fulfillment a plus.

$153,000 - $207,000 a year
Our Compensation Shippolicy:
We believe compensation is a custom experience and are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The standard base pay range for this role is min $153k to a max $207k annual salary. We tend to anchor our pay in the middle of this range ($180k) with most offers that we make. Since we are focused on hiring Shippos Everywhere, we have 2 US pay ranges,  a standard compensation range for the majority of the US and a standard +1 compensation range for those who live in areas where the cost of labor is higher, such as NYC and California.
The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: financial budgets, work experience, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market value. The base pay salary ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future. Total compensation for this role will include, equity, medical, dental, vision and other benefits noted in our Shippos “package” section.
