The Category Manager role is responsible for driving growth through high-impact, insights-based selling and solutioning in the following critical channels: Independent Convenience and Wholesale Distribution. The Category Manager must possess analytical acumen, familiarity with backbar categories and interplay between them, as well as a strong sense of curiosity about the business and underlying levers. The Category Manager role involves a high degree of cross-functional collaboration and relationship building, both internal and external.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze market trends to develop channel-specific category plans and toolkits
  • Continuously assess channel opportunity sizing, gap-to-growth, and program effectiveness using available data across multiple sources and levels of granularity
  • Adapt category solutions for diverse store environments and resource levels
  • Partner with field and distributor sales teams to create, communicate, and execute unique initiatives at the street level
  • Partner with Consumer Experience and Insights teams to provide a 360-degree view of market landscapes
  • Serve as the “voice of the channel” within the organization, advocating for their needs and creating practical and mutually-beneficial solutions
  • Support annual planning, contract negotiations, and program compliance

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of CPG industry Category Management experience
  • Direct customer-facing experience in the U.S. convenience retail channel (distributor, c-store chain, and/or independent operator exposure strongly preferred)
  • In-depth understanding of go-to-market approaches in the regulated products landscape
  • Demonstrated expertise in pricing strategy, promotional planning, and ROI analysis
  • Strong analytical capabilities and comfort using syndicated data (Circana, Nielsen), CRM and TPM/TPO tools (Salesforce), and BI platforms (Tableau)
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with a bias for action and ability to influence at all levels, both internally and with customers
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-moving organization and adapt quickly to evolving business dynamics

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, Finance, or related field
  • CMA/SIMA Certification strongly preferred

Salary varies by role, level and location, and is dependent on the cost of labor in a given
geographic region among other factors. These ranges may be modified at any time.
