Job Description

mx51 is a payments-as-a-service solution for banks, non-bank acquirers, and other merchant service providers. We are building a payment platform that allows merchants to accept payments in-store, in-app and online, whilst consolidating all their data on a real-time business management dashboard.

As a QA Team Lead at mx51, you'll ensure our platform meets the exacting standards of Australia's leading financial institutions. Working closely with our Engineering, Product and Delivery teams, you'll drive QA initiatives and shape the direction of our QA team.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone eager to join a high-growth fintech with genuine interest in technology and payments, while having the autonomy to actively shape our QA practices and ways of working.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Building automation excellence - Develop, execute and maintain automation frameworks and scripts to drive testing efficiency and innovation across our fintech platform
  • Leading comprehensive testing efforts - Perform and oversee thorough functional, regression and exploratory testing across mx51's product range, from Android applications to POS integration solutions
  • Managing the defect lifecycle - Identify, document and communicate bugs effectively to development and product teams while establishing quality gates and resolution processes
  • Driving cross-functional collaboration - Work closely with development, product and business teams to identify potential risks, limitations and improvement opportunities
  • Leading and supporting your team - Serve as the primary point of contact for team members, helping navigate daily challenges, conflicts, and technical obstacles while fostering a collaborative environment
  • Driving team performance - Set clear goals, conduct regular 1-on-1s, monitor performance metrics, and proactively manage performance issues to ensure team success
  • Building team capability - Lead recruitment efforts and enhance onboarding processes in alignment with mx51's standards, while mentoring team members and developing their technical and professional skills

About You

  • Full-stack testing capabilities - Experience testing both web-based and desktop applications, with strong skills in test planning and managing end-to-end test execution
  • Automation and manual testing expertise - Proficient in automated testing frameworks such as Playwright and comprehensive manual testing approaches
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence - Ability to understand team dynamics, provide supportive feedback, and create an inclusive environment where team members feel valued and heard
  • Communication excellence - Strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with team members and stakeholders across the business, with ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • Problem-solving mindset - Open-minded, curious approach with a 'seek to understand' mentality when tackling technical and process challenges
  • Quality-focused expertise - Passionate about software quality assurance with a drive to continuously improve testing practices and methodologies
