About the role:

Principal Infrastructure Architects are expected to provide deep business and technical expertise across all of our focus areas in the cloud, specifically leading our Azure Infrastructure practice.


They are thought leaders and can respectfully guide and challenge customers, to ensure they receive the highest level of value from their technology investments. A key component of this role is the ability to leverage AI and LLMs to simplify complex workflows, automate architectural tasks, and drive efficiency in service delivery.



While this role is largely focused on technical and consulting-based delivery directly with customers, the Principal Architect may also be required to act as a people manager for a team of ~5 direct reports of Architects and Engineers. This would include tasks such as having regular one-to-one meetings, having professional development and goal-setting conversations, and acting as part of a communication and feedback system with your direct team.

Additionally, you would help to escalate administrative or project-related issues brought to your attention and provide recommendations towards performance reviews and promotions for your team.



What you'll be doing:



● Report directly to OpsGuru Leadership.

● Confidently discuss every stage of the technology adoption cycle, all the way from the CEO to the developer, across multiple technical domains.

● Identify and implement opportunities to use AI to streamline infrastructure delivery and simplify internal consultancy processes.

● Assigned to several accounts and are expected to work with their clients to become a trusted technical advisor in Azure Infrastructure and Data enablement.

● Thought leadership.

● Guide and challenge 
clients in a respectful manner to ensure they receive the highest level of value from their technology investments.


● Provide oversight to project teams to ensure technical outcomes align to solving customer business problems within project budgets and timelines.

● Work with Engagement Managers to help manage project scope, and work with project teams and customers to help manage project expectations and delivery quality.

● Participate in the sales process, typically in a pre-sales or equivalent capacity.

● Work alongside our Account Executives and Presales Architects to scope and provide support on creating statements of works for our clients, as well as being heavily involved in account management.


Your skills & experience:

Technical and Consulting

● 10+ years of experience in a relevant information technology environment.

● 5+ years of experience delivering professional services as a Principal Consultant or equivalent leadership role, focused on infrastructure and platform workloads on Microsoft Azure, delivering the following: 

○ Azure Infrastructure Adoption or Azure Cloud migration in enterprise and small to medium-scale environments (IaaS, Networking, Security)

○ Data Platform / analytics infrastructure on Azure (eg. Azure Data Factory, Azure Fabric, Synapse)

○ Microservices adoption on Azure (eg. AKS, Azure Container Apps)

○ Infrastructure as Code adoption (Terraform, bicep) 

○ Cost optimization for Azure infrastructure 

● Demonstrated experience using AI tools and LLMs to simplify workflows, automate repetitive architectural tasks, and improve personal and team productivity.

● A history of delivering presentations to a wide-ranging audience including CxO and VP level executives.

● A history of managing multiple complex projects with a wide variety of stakeholders simultaneously.

● Sales experience, preferably in a pre-sales function. 

● A history and ability to confidently model costs and explain the total cost of ownership model of various methods of hosting infrastructure on Azure.

● A history of handling customer requests and escalations.
