Job Description
Scopely is looking for a Build & Release Engineer to join our talented and ambitious team in either Ireland, Spain, Portugal or the UK on a hybrid/remote basis.

We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced Strategy/MMO title, creating a team of talented and passionate game makers to join us on this exciting journey.
What You Will Do
Build & Release Practices: Provide expert guidance and hands-on support for building and releasing Unity 3D games and cloud-based backend systems
Ensure Pipeline Excellence: Maintain the stability, security, and reliability of CI/CD pipelines supporting all areas of game development
Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with game developers, QA, operations, and leadership to ensure smooth communication and alignment across teams
Automate for Efficiency: Design and implement tools and processes to automate workflows, improve reproducibility, and boost development productivity
Build System Observability: Monitor, audit, and report on build systems using observability and alerting tools integrated throughout the CI/CD lifecycle
Enhance Engineering Workflows: Participate in code reviews and CI/CD tooling discussions to streamline engineering practices and improve team effectiveness by reducing toil work
What We’re Looking For
Game Development Experience: Prior experience in the gaming industry, particularly with Unity 3D game development pipelines, is a strong plus
Build & Release Expertise: Proven experience in a build/release engineering role, with a strong grasp of CI/CD best practices, particularly for Unity 3D and Cloud services, this is a MUST
Version Control & CI Platforms: Solid experience with Git and build systems like GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions (GitLab strongly preferred), this is a MUST
Workflow Automation: Experience designing automated testing and development workflows with proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python and Bash, this is a MUST
Containerization & Orchestration: Strong knowledge of Docker and container orchestration platforms such as AWS ECS or EKS
Monitoring & Observability: Hands-on experience with tools like ELK Stack, Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog to monitor CI/CD systems
Cloud Platform Knowledge: Professional experience with public cloud services (preferably AWS) for provisioning and managing build environments
Infrastructure as Code: Experience using tools like Terraform, Terragrunt, or Packer to define and manage infrastructure
Systems Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across various operating systems and environments; solid understanding of networking and security concepts
DevSecOps Mindset: Awareness of DevSecOps practices and how to embed security into CI/CD workflows
Strong Communicator: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
Adaptable & Agile: Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities and technologies
