As our Senior Gameplay Animator, you will play a key role in crafting immersive and realistic third-person gameplay animations that enhance player experience and support our tactical gameplay pillars. Working closely with animators, designers, programmers, and technical artists, you will help shape the animation vision, mentor fellow team members, and ensure our character animation systems feel grounded, responsive, and believable 
through the use of both motion capture and keyframe animation.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating high-quality gameplay animations that support realistic and satisfying player movement, combat, and interactions. 
  • Collaborating closely with designers, programmers, and artists to ensure animations align with gameplay mechanics, responsiveness, and overall player feel. 
  • Implementing, tuning, and troubleshooting animations within Unreal Engine 5 using animation systems such as AnimBlueprints, state machines, montages, and Sequencer. 
  • Driving animation quality through iteration, playtesting feedback, and continuous polish. 
  • Helping establish and maintain animation pipelines, workflows, and best practices to improve team efficiency and consistency. 
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to other animators through feedback, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving. 
  • Working with motion capture data, including cleanup, refinement, and integration into gameplay systems. 
  • Partnering with technical disciplines to solve complex gameplay animation challenges while balancing quality and performance requirements. 
  • Maintaining consistency with the visual tone and grounded realism of Ready or Not. 
  • Staying current with industry trends, emerging tools, and animation techniques to help push the studio’s animation quality forward. 
  • Participate in motion capture shoots when needed. 

 

What you'll bring to the team: 

  • Mandatory minimum of 5+ years’ experience as a Gameplay Animator on shipped realistic game titles. 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating realistic gameplay animation work, ideally featuring combat, locomotion, and tactical movement systems. 
  • Expert proficiency in Autodesk Maya and MotionBuilder. 
  • Mandatory experience working with Unreal Engine 5, including implementing and refining animations using the engine’s animation tools and systems. 
  • Strong understanding of animation fundamentals including weight, timing, body mechanics, and motion authenticity. 
  • Advanced experience with both keyframe animation and motion capture workflows. 
  • Deep understanding of gameplay animation systems, state machines, blending, and responsiveness. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines in a remote development environment. 
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to take ownership of features and proactively drive animation quality from concept through implementation. 

Bonus Points if you have: 

  • Experience working on realistic or tactical games. 
  • Experience mentoring or leading other animators. 
  • Familiarity with scripting and advanced animation systems in Unreal Engine. 
  • Experience with rigging, skinning, or technical animation workflows. 
  • Knowledge of procedural animation, IK systems, physics-based animation, or motion matching techniques. 
  • Experience working with weapon handling and tactical character movement systems.
