ABOUT THE ROLE

The Chief Business Development Officer owns global business development and ecosystem growth for the Algorand blockchain. As a member of the executive team and reporting to the CEO, you will define and execute strategies that drive real-world adoption with a focus on institutional and financial use cases.

You will lead a global organization that currently spans on-chain capital markets, ecosystem partnerships, impact & humanitarian payments, and India. Together with product, engineering, and marketing teams, you will take on an important leadership role in defining our priorities and executing against a plan  that brings ultimate success to these enterprise partnerships. 

This is an exciting role that sits at the forefront of bringing blockchain technology to the masses and will be instrumental in driving the strategic vision of Algorand.


ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Own business development globally - define and deliver strategies that drive institutional adoption in key focus areas that include payments and on-chain capital markets
  • Provide vision and leadership in evaluating strategic BD and partnership opportunities and building a strong presence for Algorand’s capabilities within the industry
  • Lead Impact and Humanitarian Payments team, identifying strategies to scale adoption and own the category
  • Expand and scale up India BD efforts as a regional hub that supports our global BD operations
  • Provide leadership in structuring commercial and incentive plans that align ecosystem adoption with financial sustainability across all deal types ranging from integrations, liquidity programs, professional services, and token-based economics
  • Build high functioning BD organization that can identify, source, and structure complex, multi-party deals and be held accountable for delivering results 
  • Establish efficient process and best practices for pipeline management with  clear metrics and OKR’s
  • Create robust partnership management function that enables partner onboarding, partner GTM, and partner support to ensure long term success of partnerships
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to align roadmap decisions with commercial and ecosystem demand


WHO YOU ARE

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial leadership, business development, or partnerships, with deep exposure to payments/fintech as well blockchain/crypto
  • Proven track record owning and building revenue pipeline and closing revenue generating partnerships around decentralized or platform-driven business models
  • Strong network across payments/fintech, banking and finance, and/or Web3; ability to source compelling partnerships based on past experience/rolodex
  • Extensive experience structuring complex Web3 deals and partnerships, owning the deal process end to end
  • Demonstrated ability to lead senior, globally distributed teams in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
  • Deep understanding of digital payments, blockchain infrastructure, crypto markets, tokenization, and on-chain financial systems
  • Clear, compelling communicator with strong strategic judgment, focus, ability to effectively allocate limited resources, and execution discipline
  • Familiarity with and interest in driving global partnerships in developing countries and emerging markets is essential. Experience working with one or more of India, Africa/ Middle East or Latam is required
  • Experience with Layer 1 or Layer 2 blockchain protocols is preferred
