We are transforming how civics is taught by providing equity-rooted, real-world civic education, which helps students understand exactly how governments function and how they can make a difference in the system. Through hands-on civic education, legislative advocacy, coalition building, and youth leadership development, we teach young people how to have a voice and become active citizens in their communities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Manager, Employee Experience to join our diverse and inclusive team. For this position, you will play an instrumental role in shaping and enhancing the overall employee journey at Generation Citizen. Building upon the foundation established in talent acquisition and onboarding, the Manager, Employee Experience will lead and execute initiatives focused on employee engagement, development, and well-being to create a positive, inclusive, high-performing work environment. As a member of the Operations Team, the Manager, Employee Experience plays a pivotal role in managing recruitment and talent needs, with heightened responsibility and reports directly to the Senior Director, Talent & Organizational Effectiveness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding 40%
- Develop and execute advanced recruitment strategies to attract and secure top-tier talent.
- Lead the full-cycle recruitment process, overseeing everything from job description development through seamless 90-day onboarding.
- Strategically source candidate pipelines through multiple channels, including but not limited to LinkedIn, job boards, and industry-specific platforms.
- Collaborate closely with hiring managers to refine and optimize job descriptions and recruitment strategies.
- Refine the new-hire onboarding process and proactively develop comprehensive onboarding resources to ensure the experience reflects industry best practices and the organization’s values.
- Cultivate a warm and inclusive environment for new hires, fostering a sense of belonging from day one.
Employee Experience & Development 40%
- Expand the wellness programs to promote employee well-being and work-life balance.
- Oversee the scheduling, tracking, and evaluation of professional development opportunities.
- Lead the development, implementation, and management of the internship programs, including recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Design and lead initiatives to foster team connections and relationship-building across a remote environment to maintain a strong, cohesive organizational culture.
- Support in employee feedback and data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Co-develop and implement strategies to improve employee retention and reduce turnover.
Operations & Systems Management 20%
- Lead the ongoing management of JazzHR, the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Identify opportunities to improve the ATS and implement enhancements as needed.
- Explore and implement innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency of the talent system and reduce operational costs.
- Oversee document storage and codify systems to centralize and organize candidate and new employee information securely.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- 2+ years of experience in Human Resources, Talent, or People Management required
- Exceptional attention to detail with an interest in developing sustainable systems and processes
- Demonstrated ability to respond proactively to dynamic environments and to navigate challenging situations and relationships with diplomacy and efficiency
- Proven experience in developing and sustaining employee engagement and community-building initiatives within a remote or hybrid work environment
- Experience in creating training materials, onboarding resources, or internal communications that are clear, engaging, and aligned with organizational values
- Ability to interpret employee feedback and HR data to identify trends and recommend actionable improvements for the employee experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence culture across diverse, cross-functional teams
- Experience in applying a Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive lens to talent acquisition
NOTE
This position works primarily remotely but will be expected to travel to organizational or team retreats, special events, conferences, and other potential in-person activities. Required in-person opportunities include, but are not limited to, annual staff retreats and region-based Civics Day events.
SALARY
Generation Citizen is committed to maintaining a compensation and total rewards package that supports our ability to recruit and retain a diverse and talented team. As we make decisions about compensation, we are guided by the following values: clarity, consistency, and internal pay equity. Roles on the National team extend throughout the country, causing a wider salary range due to geographic variation versus regional roles that have a set salary.
The salary for this role is $66,120-$72,898.
