Role Overview
The Account Director, Retail Sales and Strategy is responsible for driving revenue growth across Neptune’s national In Store media network, retailer-owned media networks, category programs, and loyalty ecosystems. This role owns the strategic relationship with assigned retail partners and is accountable for monetizing retailer assets through integrated in-store and digital media solutions including digital incentives.


Sitting at the center of retailer strategy and commercial execution, the Account Director reports to the SVP Retail Sales and Strategy and identifies, develops, and scales revenue-generating opportunities across retailer RMN, category/merchandising, and loyalty touchpoints, ensuring alignment between retailer priorities and advertiser demand.


Key Responsibilities


Retailer Revenue Strategy & RMN Growth

  • Support SVP in owning and expanding retailer relationships {e.g..Loblaw, Sobeys, Metro}
  • Develop and execute RMN partnership growth strategies aligned to retailer priorities. 
  • Identify new revenue streams including: In store media (Shelf, On-Pack, Floor, Displays), Digital media and programmatic extensions and Data-driven targeting via loyalty ecosystems. 


Category & Merchandising Program Monetization

  • Partner with retailer Category, Merchandising, and Shopper Marketing teams to align media programs with category growth strategies and embed media into seasonal, promotional, and innovation calendars
  • Translate category priorities into sellable media opportunities for CPGs (Connected Shelf, FloorTalk, Digital Screens, DOOH, etc)
  • Ensure programs drive both: Retailer objectives (sales, margin, category growth) and Advertiser outcomes (visibility, conversion, ROI)


Revenue Ownership & Commercial Leadership for Mid-Tier Retailers

  • Own revenue accountability across assigned retailers including: Pattison Food Group, McKesson, Uniprix, Familiprix
  • Forecasting and delivery against targets
  • Drive “go deeper and wider” account growth, expanding across categories, retailer divisions/banner and media products and capabilities
  • Support SVP with retailer negotiations to secure scalable, repeatable revenue programs


Sales Enablement & Demand Creation

  • Supporting SVP Retail, act as the strategic enabler for Neptune’s CDN Sales team, ensuring retailer assets are clearly packaged, commercially viable and aligned to advertiser demand
  • Translate retailer opportunities into market-facing solutions that unlock CPG investment
  • Partner with Sales to accelerate deal conversion, program approvals and incremental budget capture


Qualifications

  • Proven track record of delivering results through the closing of sales in the retail landscape, ideally with or on behalf of CPG’s
  • Has consistently achieved or exceeded profitable sales goals selling business to business
  • Passionate and driven by new business development and account growth potential
  • Self-starter with high-level of personal accountability who takes initiative and acts quickly within fast-paced environment
  • Success in building strong relationships with senior level decision makers
  • Highly analytical with demonstrated ability to leverage data to develop tailored solutions for clients
  • Ability to confidently communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of CPG and retail industry
  • 8–12+ years experience in Retail Media, Shopper Marketing, CPG, or Retail Sales Strategy
