🚀 We’re Hiring: Head of Project Management Office (PMO)
We’re looking for a strategic, execution-driven Head of PMO to lead our organization’s project and product delivery operations. This role will oversee Project Managers and Technical Product Managers, drive enterprise portfolio planning, and personally lead critical high-impact projects. If you are a strong leader who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on project management, we want to meet you.
Job Summary
The Head of PMO leads the strategic direction, governance, and operational performance of the Project Management Office while also serving as a senior-level project leader capable of managing high-impact, complex projects directly. This role oversees Project Managers and Technical Product Managers, ensuring alignment of all initiatives with business goals, while also engaging hands-on to manage critical or sensitive projects that require advanced expertise.
The ideal candidate blends executive-level leadership with practical project delivery skills, ensuring excellence in project execution, product development, portfolio reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
1. PMO Leadership & Governance
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve PMO methodologies, standards, templates, and reporting structures.
- Establish and maintain governance for project execution, product development, risk management, and change control.
- Oversee and guide Project Managers and Technical Product Managers in executing their responsibilities effectively.
- Lead PMO maturity development and adoption of best practices.
2. Portfolio Management & Strategic Alignment
- Manage the full project and product portfolio, ensuring prioritization based on business value, resource capacity, and feasibility.
- Provide executives with portfolio dashboards and analytics that highlight status, risks, financials, and ROI.
- Align the portfolio with organizational strategy, recommending adjustments as priorities evolve.
3. Hands-On Project Management (Critical Duty)
The Head of PMO must be able to personally manage key projects. Responsibilities include:
- Directly lead complex, high-risk, or high-value projects from planning to execution and closure.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define scope, deliverables, timelines, and budgets - reflecting core Project Manager responsibilities.
- Create and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and documentation.
- Lead structured status meetings and provide comprehensive progress reporting.
- Identify project risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage project changes in cost, scope, and timeline.
- Ensure successful stakeholder communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Oversight of Technical Product Development
- Provide direction to Technical Product Managers regarding product roadmaps, user requirements, prioritization, and lifecycle execution.
- Ensure product strategies are aligned with business objectives and customer needs.
- Monitor delivery of product releases, ensuring adherence to Agile methodologies and sprint cadence.
- Support the execution of user research, feature prioritization, and customer-centric design processes.
5. Enterprise Risk Management & Quality Assurance
- Establish enterprise-wide risk and quality frameworks spanning both projects and product development efforts.
- Facilitate executive escalations and resolve cross-functional project or product roadblocks.
- Ensure all initiatives follow compliance, policies, and required standards.
6. Stakeholder & Executive Engagement
- Serve as the primary escalation point for all PMO-related issues.
- Communicate project and product performance to executive leadership in clear, concise formats.
- Build strong partnerships with internal teams, clients, vendors, and business leaders.
- Present product visions, project updates, roadmaps, and strategic recommendations effectively.
7. Team Leadership & People Development
- Lead, coach, and develop project managers, product managers, and other PMO personnel.
- Establish performance standards, skills frameworks, and continuous learning programs.
- Foster a high-performing culture built on accountability, transparency, and collaboration.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, or Portfolio Management certifications are an advantage.
Experience:
- 10+ years of combined experience in project management, program management, product management, or PMO leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects hands-on.
- Experience supervising project and product management functions.
- Strong background in technology, software development, or digital transformation preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to lead strategic initiatives while remaining capable of performing day-to-day project management work.
- Strong communication skills — verbal, written, and executive-level presentation.
- Deep understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and technical product operations.
- Expert-level skills in project planning, risk management, budgeting, and stakeholder communication.
