Job Description
About XBOW
Build the future of offensive security with XBOW. Attackers are already using AI to move faster than defenders can react—we’re creating the platform that puts security ahead in the arms race. Our AI-powered system autonomously discovers, validates, and even exploits vulnerabilities, giving organizations proof-backed results in hours instead of weeks.
Founded by Oege de Moor, creator of GitHub Copilot, and backed by Sequoia, Altimeter, and other leading investors, XBOW is applying cutting-edge AI to one of the world’s most urgent problems. In just over a year, our AI, built by a world-class AI team and legendary security researchers — has uncovered thousands of real-world zero-days across the software billions rely on, and achieved the #1 ranking on HackerOne’s global leaderboard.
We’re a team of builders, hackers, and researchers who thrive on solving problems others think are impossible. If you want to push the boundaries of AI, reshape how security is done, and join the group defining this new era of defense — we’d love to talk.
Your Role: Automation Engineer
This role focuses on building and running the systems that make quality visible and actionable across XBOW. You’d spend time maintaining and evolving the infrastructure that powers automated testing across teams, operating a continuous full-system QA environment with realistic web applications and security setups, and digging into test results to produce high quality, actionable defect reports for feature teams. You’d regularly analyze quality signals such as code coverage, test outcomes, and reliability metrics. Turning them into dashboards that inform release decisions and longer term planning. A significant part of the role also involves partnering closely with other engineers, providing test data and environments that improve developer experience, and working with teams early in the design process to ensure features are testable, observable, and robust before they ship.
What you will do:
Overarching infrastructure to support automated testing across the technical groups.
Ownership and management of a continuous, full-system QA environment, including a rich set of realistic webapps and corresponding network security infrastructure.
Detailed defect analysis for reporting to feature teams, including automated instrumentation to improve the detail of any bug reports.
Company-wide quality dashboards and reporting, to drive release decisions and future planning.
Reporting code coverage analysis from unit and system tests, and identification of gaps in coverage.
Developer experience (DX) support: providing comprehensive test data and working environments for the rest of engineering to develop and test against.
Working with feature teams to help design for testability.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
Strong experience with TypeScript
Understanding of full-system testing, including handling non-deterministic results
Hands-on experience with API automation
Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, specifically GitHub Actions
Advantageous:
Experience with Python and/or Go
Experience with UI automation frameworks such as Playwright or Selenium
Working knowledge of network security and cybersecurity practices
Experience with performance and load testing tools

What else you should know
Location: Remote (all team members are remote but we meet regularly and you’re supported to travel to collaborate with colleagues in person)
Contract: Full-time.
