Job Title: VP QA Automation 

Location: Atlanta, GA., New York City, NY., (hybrid) OR Remote

Reports to: CTO

Job Summary

We are seeking a Vice President of QA Automation to define and lead our quality automation strategy at scale. This executive will own the vision, architecture, and execution of automation across web, mobile, and API platforms, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of reliability, performance, and compliance.

This is a highly strategic and hands-on leadership role. You will build and evolve automation frameworks from the ground up, embed quality across the SDLC, and lead a growing team of QA engineers in a fast-paced startup environment. You will partner closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps to ensure automation is deeply integrated into CI/CD pipelines and aligned with our innovation roadmap.

Responsibilities

Quality Strategy & Vision

  • Define and execute the enterprise-wide QA automation strategy
  • Establish scalable, modern automation frameworks across web, mobile (iOS/Android), and APIs
  • Build a culture where quality is embedded early and continuously in the development lifecycle
  • Define KPIs, quality metrics, and reporting frameworks for executive visibility
  • Automation Architecture & Execution
  • Lead the design and implementation of automation frameworks from scratch
  • Ensure robust test coverage across frontend, backend, APIs, and mobile applications
  • Oversee integration of automation into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and rapid release cycles
  • Champion modern testing methodologies, tooling, and AI-driven automation practices

Team Leadership & Growth

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a QA Automation team of 10+ engineers
  • Hire, develop, and retain high-performing automation talent
  • Establish best practices in test strategy, framework design, and test data management
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and technical excellence
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to align quality strategy with roadmap priorities
  • Ensure QA is embedded within agile development processes
  • Support compliance, security, and healthcare data quality standards where applicable
  • Act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on quality, risk, and scalability

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in QA Automation leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
  • Proven experience leading QA teams of 10+ employees
  • Demonstrated experience building automation frameworks from scratch
  • Strong hands-on background in test automation tools and frameworks, including:

Mobile Automation: Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, Or similar mobile automation frameworksWeb Automation: Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Or similar frameworksAPI Testing: Postman, RestAssured, Or equivalent tools

  • Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency in one or more languages such as Python, Golang, or TypeScript
  • Deep understanding of mobile app testing challenges across both iOS and Android ecosystems
  • Experience working in fast-paced startup environments
  • Strong analytical, communication, and executive-level leadership skills

Preferred Certifications

  • ISTQB Advanced Level (Test Manager or Test Automation Engineer)
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of QA leadership, test strategy, and automation best practices
  • Certified Test Automation Engineer (CTAE) or equivalent
  • Validates expertise in designing and scaling automation frameworks
  • Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE)
  • Indicates strong foundations in quality systems, metrics, and continuous improvement

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $200,000-$240,000.
