Who We Are

At Yuno, we are building the payment infrastructure that allows all companies to participate in the global market. Founded by seasoned experts from the payments and tech industries, our technology provides access to leading payment capabilities, enabling companies to engage customers confidently and maintain global operations through seamless integrations.

We empower high-performing teams at brands like InDrive, McDonald’s, Rappi, and Viva Aerobus to integrate over 1,000 payment methods via a single API. By leveraging advanced AI and the latest technologies, we orchestrate smart routing and fraud prevention across 80+ countries.

About The Role

Yuno is looking for a Senior Database Administrator to own the data layer that powers our payment processing systems and the platform that provisions, deploys, and manages AI agents at scale on AWS. You'll join the same infrastructure team responsible for the reliability, performance, and security of Yuno's production systems, working side by side with engineering and DevOps.

This is not a “keep the lights on” role. You'll be the senior technical voice on database architecture — driving decisions on performance, scalability, high availability, and how our data layer evolves as the platform grows.

Your Contribution Will Be

  • Database administration and optimization — own maintenance, patching, and upgrades across our database fleet; lead performance tuning, indexing strategy, and query optimization for mission-critical, high-throughput systems.

  • Reliability, backup, and recovery — design and own backup/recovery strategy, replication, and disaster recovery planning to guarantee stability and data integrity for payment processing workloads.

  • Infrastructure as Code — automate database provisioning and maintenance with Terraform, working within the same IaC practices as the rest of the infrastructure team.

  • Data migration and conversion — plan and execute complex data migration and conversion routines for production systems, verifying successful completion with minimal risk and downtime.

  • Monitoring and performance — build the dashboards, alerts, and monitors that surface database health and performance issues before they become incidents.

  • Technical leadership — mentor engineers on database best practices, provide expertise on deployment and architecture planning, and proactively communicate risks, issues, and next steps to the team.

Skills You Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator in production environments.

  • Deep PostgreSQL expertise — performance tuning, indexing strategies, replication, and query optimization at scale.

  • AWS — solid experience with RDS, EC2, VPC, IAM, and S3; understanding of networking fundamentals for database connectivity.

  • CDC (Change Data Capture) integrations.

  • Database security — access controls, encryption at rest and in transit, auditing, and compliance best practices for sensitive payment data.

  • Infrastructure as Code — Terraform experience, with a preference for infrastructure reviewed in PRs rather than clicked in consoles.

  • Python proficiency for automation and scripting.

  • Proven backup/recovery and disaster recovery planning for critical systems.

  • Distributed systems debugging — experience diagnosing data-related issues and cascading failures in production.

  • English — advanced proficiency required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NoSQL experience (MongoDB, Redis) — knowing when to use SQL vs. NoSQL and how to tune each.

  • Observability tooling — Datadog fluency or equivalent (dashboards, monitors, log pipelines).

  • Docker — container lifecycle basics as they relate to database deployments.

  • Experience in the payments industry.

  • Spanish — proficiency preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to AI/MLOps data infrastructure (model serving pipelines, feature stores, or similar).

  • Experience supporting multi-tenant database architectures.

  • Kubernetes exposure.
