About Collectly

Collectly is a fast-growing healthcare technology company transforming revenue cycle management (RCM) through AI-driven automation. Millions of patients navigate inefficient billing systems every day, while providers face delayed payments, rising administrative burden, and operational complexity.

Collectly applies artificial intelligence to automate workflows, accelerate cash flow, and modernize the patient financial experience; enabling healthcare organizations to operate more efficiently and focus on delivering care.

There could not be a hotter space to play in.  Healthcare is a $4.9T industry and is adopting AI technology at 2.2x the rate of the rest of the economy.  RCM is at the heart of this transformation as it has a clear and demonstrable ROI to our customers.

About the role

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build our pre-service products — the part of the platform that runs before a patient's visit: insurance eligibility and benefits, prior authorization, referrals, and patient cost estimates.

Most of this work is under the hood. No single source in healthcare gives a complete answer, so we have many ways to extract the data we need — and the real engineering is in combining and interpreting them.

You'll build AI-based workflows that weigh what each source returned, resolve the conflicts, and produce the most reliable answer we can, and use production data to find where we fall short on real customer problems.

Our stack is Python-first, and we're looking for engineers who are comfortable designing and evolving backend systems in Python. You'll collaborate closely with the founder, engineering leadership, product managers, designers, and fellow engineers.

We are a hybrid company, partly based in Santa Monica, USA and partly remote, spread out around the United States & Europe.

Key responsibilities

In this role you will

• Build AI-based workflows that combine and interpret data from multiple extraction channels to produce reliable answers.

• Analyze production data to find and fix accuracy gaps on real customer problems.

• Completely own your features end-to-end, from product requirements, code, testing, observability, rollout and maintenance.

• Collaborate with the founder, PMs, designers, and other engineers to navigate trade-offs and build a world-class product.

• Work with urgency to build critical features with a keen attention to detail and high-quality maintainable code.

Required qualifications

Must-haves

• At least 5 years experience building complex backend systems.

• Strong Python.

• Fluency with AI-assisted development — we use agentic coding tools (Claude Code and similar) as part of day-to-day engineering.

• A passion for building and delivering exceptional products.

• The ability to navigate a fast-paced work environment.

• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with our technology stack: Python, Flask, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, Redis.

• Experience shipping LLM-based features to production.

• Healthcare experience: eligibility and benefits, revenue cycle, EDI/X12, clearinghouse or EHR integrations.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
