Power BI / Analytics Engineer

SUMMARY:

We are looking for an experienced Power BI / Analytics Engineer to join our growing Data & AI Practice.

This is a hands-on analytics and reporting role for someone strong in Power BI, DAX, and semantic modelling, who enjoys working directly with business stakeholders to turn complex reporting requirements into clear, reliable, well-designed dashboards.

You will initially work on TXP’s internal data platform, built on Microsoft Fabric, supporting the next phase of reporting and analytics across finance, sales, recruitment and operational data.

Working closely with our Senior Fabric Engineer, who owns the platform architecture and data engineering, you will take governed data and build the semantic models, measures and Power BI reporting that sit on top of it.

This is a long-term role within our Data & AI Practice, with opportunities to work across both internal initiatives and client projects.

The role is based in Brazil and follows UK business hours.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING:

As part of our Data & AI Practice, you will:

• Work directly with finance and other business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into clear, reliable and useful Power BI dashboards.
• Build and maintain Power BI semantic models, including relationships, measures and well-structured analytical models.
• Develop advanced and performant DAX measures to support business and financial reporting.
• Build reporting over governed data within a medallion architecture, primarily using the gold layer prepared by the Fabric Engineer.
• Implement and maintain row-level security (RLS) to protect sensitive finance, commission and people data.
• Work with Direct Lake on Microsoft Fabric where appropriate and optimise semantic models and reports for performance.
• Capture existing reporting definitions and business logic, including reporting currently held within the existing DataCube, and reproduce them accurately on the new platform.
• Validate reporting against source data and agreed business definitions to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) with finance and other business stakeholders.
• Document measures, definitions and reporting logic to ensure dashboards and models remain maintainable.
• Work closely with the Fabric Engineer, following established architecture and modelling patterns and providing feedback where reporting requirements require changes to the gold-layer model.
• Build clear, intuitive and visually effective dashboards that business users can easily understand and trust.
• Contribute to future internal and client-facing analytics and reporting projects across the TXP Data & AI Practice.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including building production-level dashboards and reporting solutions.
• Strong experience with Power BI semantic modelling, not just dashboard visualisation.
• Excellent knowledge of DAX, including building complex, efficient and performant measures.
• Strong understanding of analytical data modelling, including star schemas, relationships and measures.
• Experience designing and implementing row-level security (RLS) within Power BI.
• Good understanding of different Power BI connectivity and storage approaches, including Import, DirectQuery and Direct Lake.
• Experience optimising Power BI models and reports for performance.
• Familiarity with performance and modelling tools such as DAX Studio, Tabular Editor or VertiPaq Analyser.
• Solid SQL skills, with the ability to query, investigate and validate underlying data.
• Experience gathering requirements directly from business stakeholders and translating those requirements into effective reporting solutions.
• The confidence to challenge or clarify requirements where necessary to ensure reporting definitions and calculations are correct.
• Strong dashboard and report-design skills, with a focus on creating clear, usable and business-friendly reporting.
• The ability to work independently on reporting while collaborating closely with a lead engineer responsible for the wider data platform.
• Strong written and spoken English, as you will work directly with UK-based finance and business stakeholders.

AWESOME BUT NOT REQUIRED:

• Hands-on experience within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, including Power BI within Fabric, OneLake and Direct Lake.
• Experience working with finance reporting, such as P&L, revenue recognition, forecasting and budgeting.
• Understanding of modern data engineering concepts such as medallion architecture, lakehouses and data pipelines.
• Experience working alongside Data Engineers or Analytics Engineers within modern cloud data platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD for Power BI, including PBIP, Git or deployment pipelines.
• Microsoft certifications such as PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) or DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer).
• Experience delivering analytics and reporting solutions across different clients or business domains.
