Dexerto is the leading voice in gaming, entertainment, and viral news, reaching millions of readers every month with breaking news, features, interviews, guides, and analysis across everything from gaming to anime, TV shows, movies, food trends, content creators, and the internet’s biggest viral talking points.We’re looking for a full-time writer who can contribute across Dexerto’s coverage areas. Gaming will be an important part of the role, so you’ll need a genuine interest in games and the communities around them. Alongside news, you’ll write gaming tips and guides, and may occasionally contribute reviews. You can be based anywhere, but we’re particularly interested in applicants who can work 2pm–10pm UK time.We also need someone who understands online culture, has a strong instinct for the stories audiences care about, and thrives in a fast-moving news environment. You’ll also cover TV and movies, anime, food, content creators, social media, and viral trends.You don’t need encyclopedic knowledge of every area we cover, but you should be curious, adaptable, and excited to learn about new topics and communities.What You’ll Be DoingWriting fast, accurate, and engaging news stories across Dexerto’s core coverage areasWriting useful gaming tips and guides, and occasionally contributing reviewsCovering gaming, TV and movies, anime, entertainment, food, social media, content creators, and viral internet cultureIdentifying stories through social media, industry sources, and trend monitoringPitching original story ideas and featuresPublishing and promoting stories across social media platforms, including X and FacebookWriting social copy that encourages engagement and helps stories reach new audiencesWorking closely with editors to ensure stories meet Dexerto’s editorial standardsContributing ideas for headlines, angles, and follow-up coverageHelping identify emerging trends before they become mainstream storiesWhat We’re Looking ForExperience writing for a digital publication, website, newspaper, magazine, or similar outletA genuine interest in games and an understanding of what players want to knowThe ability to write clear, accurate gaming tips and guidesStrong news judgment and an instinct for stories that will resonate with online audiencesExcellent writing, research, and fact-checking skillsAn interest in entertainment, social media, content creators, and online cultureA strong understanding of social media platforms and how stories spread onlineExperience using platforms such as X, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch, and RedditExperience posting content to social media accounts on behalf of a publication is desirableThe ability to work quickly without sacrificing accuracySomeone who is happy covering a wide range of topics and adapting to new trendsWhat You Won’t Be DoingCovering politics, world news, or heavy current affairsThis role is about finding the stories people are talking about right now and delivering them quickly, accurately, and engagingly.
