As the Technical Lead for the Backend Delivery team at Embark, you will work in the shared tech organization and lead the technical execution of reliability and developer experience. Backend Delivery is a platform team that serves other shared tech functions by building self-serve infrastructure, tooling, and managing our shared multi-tenant clusters. Some examples of things we’re working on include CI/CD, observability, mesh networking, build pipelines, etc. Some of the technologies we use to make all of those are Go, Python, GCP, Bazel, Terraform, Kubernetes, Istio.You will mentor and guide engineers, collaborate closely with design and product, and make architectural decisions regarding the infrastructure and backend development platform.In your day to day you work as an amplifier for cross team communication & collaboration.Example of responsibilities: Leadership & CollaborationManagerial responsibilities (not limited to) hiring & onboarding of new employees and long-term career development.Serve the know-how & share best practices: coaching people to make the right decisions across dependencies and to raise concerns and needs.Collaborate with backend services teams, the game server infrastructure team and other users of the common development platform such as data analytics and anti-cheat to define, scope, and deliver new features and improvements.Planning and working for sustainability / scalability of team and throughput, including headcount planning and scoping.Example of responsibilities: Architecture & DevelopmentSupport the design and evolution of robust, scalable systems within backend engineering teams in the organization (e.g. player-progression, matchmaking, etc…)Ensure high performance and reliability by improving monitoring of our fleetsFoster best practices in code quality, automated testing, performance profiling, and release reliability.Lower cognitive load by building tools and automation to make development iterations simpler and faster.We would love if you haveA creative and curious mindA solid and proven background from software engineering and architectural leadership with previous experience developing large scale systems.Experience from a high-paced engineering organization working with CI, scalability, and automation, etc.Experience in working with a diverse set of partners and helping them understand the trade-offs to different product and technical decisions.Learning, collaborative and sharing approach as well as motivation to take initiative and driveThe ability to be a great team player with good communication skillsProven leadership qualities, including splendid recommendation stats from former team membersProfessional English communication skills.At Embark we offer competitive salaries, passionate colleagues to share knowledge with and much more, but most of all we invite you to take part of a journey into the unknown, to build creative, surprising and beautiful experiences together.Be yourself at Embark and make games while doing so.
