Join Creative Assembly and craft deep and detailed games that last, entertaining millions of players across the globe for decades.The RoleCreative Assembly is looking for an Engine QA Analyst to join our team based at our studio in Horsham, West Sussex.As an Engine QA Analyst, you will be an experienced and technically proficient QA practitioner with a strong understanding of game development QA processes and systems. You will specialise in engine and graphics testing, using debug tools and automation techniques to identify a wide range of issues.Embedded within the Graphics development team, you will focus on testing and validating new engine features and bug fixes before they are deployed across development teams. You will work collaboratively with Core Technology, Tech Art, Tools, and Game QA teams to build a deep understanding of engine systems, workflows, and dependencies.This role requires a proactive individual who can quickly contribute to test planning and execution, build strong stakeholder relationships, and take shared ownership of graphics testing and reporting. You will work across both manual and automated testing, contributing to testing strategies and supporting the long-term stability and quality of our games.What you’ll be doingOn a day-to-day basis, you will:Perform detailed testing of new and updated graphics engine features, covering functionality, performance, and stabilityDesign, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans tailored to engine features and in-game systemsConduct milestone test sweeps, identifying regressions, performance issues, and workflow blockersCollaborate with developers to identify automation opportunities and integrate automated checks into QA processesDiagnose and triage complex technical issues, producing clear and actionable bug reports and supporting root cause analysisWork closely with Engine, Tech Art, Tools, and QA teams to understand workflows, dependencies, and potential impact of changesAct as a point of contact for graphics testing, providing guidance and best practices to stakeholdersRepresent Engine QA in graphics meetings and agile ceremoniesProduce clear, concise reporting for stakeholdersContribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, frameworks, and documentation standardsWhat we are looking forEssentialProven QA experience within game development or a strong understanding of the full software development lifecyclePrevious experience in a technical QA role within games or a related software testing fieldAbility to self-manage workload and proactively identify testing prioritiesStrong organisational and time management skillsExcellent communication skills, including experience writing clear documentation and reportsMethodical and structured approach to investigating issues and following processesExperience working within Agile development environmentsPassion for video games and a desire to contribute to the development processDesirableExperience testing game engines or graphics systemsFamiliarity with Total War titlesExperience with bug and task tracking tools such as JIRA or TestRailExperience testing across multiple platforms, including PC and consolesKnowledge of XR, TRC, and/or Technical Certification requirementsExperience with test automation frameworks or scripting ABOUT CREATIVE ASSEMBLYWe care deeply about the experiences we create and put our players at the heart of our decisions.
