QA Engineer (Automation + Functional)

RhythmScience, Inc. · Remote (US, West Coast hours preferred) · Full-Time

RhythmScience builds clinical-grade remote monitoring software for cardiac care. Our platform is used by cardiology practices and health systems across the US to monitor thousands of patients. We're a growing Series A company building the infrastructure layer for cardiac care delivery.

We're looking for an engineer who owns software quality hands-on, from building automated test coverage to partnering with product on test plans before a line of code is written.

---
What you'll do

- Build and maintain automated end-to-end and regression tests (Playwright) and keep them running reliably in CI/CD
- Run functional, regression, and integration testing across our web and mobile apps
- Partner directly with product and engineering to develop test plans for new features. You'll be involved early, helping define acceptance criteria, not handed a finished spec to validate
- Help define release readiness criteria and quality gates as the team grows
- Triage, reproduce, and clearly document defects; track quality signals (escaped defects, coverage, flake rate) and surface them to the team
- Improve our testing tooling and processes as we scale

---
What we're looking for

- 3+ years in software QA with hands-on automation experience (Playwright or equivalent)
- Comfortable writing test plans from product requirements and owning them through release
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Pragmatic and self-directed in a fast-moving startup. You build the process, not just follow it
- US-based with solid West Coast (PT) overlap for day-to-day work with product and engineering
- Strong written communication for clear, reproducible bug reports and test documentation

---
Nice to have

- Experience testing HIPAA-compliant systems or an understanding of PHI data-handling requirements
- API testing experience, or familiarity with EHR integrations (HL7/FHIR)
- Background in healthcare SaaS, RPM, or clinical data platforms

---
What we offer

- Base salary $95,000-125,000 DOE
- Meaningful equity at a growth-stage company
- Full benefits, remote-first culture
